What LogTuber does
LogTuber helps users learn from YouTube subtitles through its Chrome extension, Web Notes, and native iOS app. It provides synced bilingual subtitles, contextual word and phrase explanations, cloud learning notes, review tools, flashcards, and read-aloud features.
Data we may process
- Account information supplied through Google, Apple, or email sign-in, such as account ID, email, name, and avatar.
- Learning content the user chooses to save or sync, including notes, memory status, subtitles, selected text, subtitle context, video title, and video URL.
- Content included in a user-requested model or read-aloud request and usage quota metadata, such as monthly request counts.
- Technical request metadata, such as request time, IP address, and error status for service reliability and abuse prevention.
Data we do not collect
- LogTuber does not record microphone audio.
- LogTuber does not download YouTube videos or record their audio.
- LogTuber does not sell user data.
- LogTuber does not read unrelated browsing pages for advertising or profiling.
How model requests work
Model requests are triggered when the user asks for translation or contextual explanation. The request may include the selected text, the full subtitle sentence, nearby subtitle context, target language, and video title so the model can provide a more accurate explanation.
Device and cloud storage
The Chrome extension stores working data in the browser and, after sign-in, syncs supported notes and transcripts to the user's LogTuber cloud account. The iOS app stores its LogTuber session in the iOS Keychain and keeps protected, replaceable offline caches for notes, transcripts, and speech audio. Signing out removes that account's iOS caches.
Retention and account deletion
Cloud account content is retained while the account is active or as needed to provide the service. Users can initiate permanent deletion from the iOS app. Deletion removes the LogTuber cloud account and associated cloud notes, transcript objects, sign-in identities, and quota records, except where retention is legally required. Data stored locally by the Chrome extension remains under the user's browser controls and must be removed there separately. Operational logs are retained for a limited service-security period.
Third-party services
- Google OAuth and Sign in with Apple for sign-in.
- Cloudflare Pages for hosting this website.
- Alibaba Cloud Function Compute for backend API hosting.
- Volcengine Ark model APIs for translation and contextual explanation.
Limited Use statement
LogTuber uses Google and Apple account data only to provide user-facing account, quota, sign-in, synchronization, and account-security features. LogTuber does not use provider data for advertising, does not sell it, and does not transfer it except as needed to provide or secure the user-facing functionality of the service.
